I was recently interviewed for the latest issue of the Notre Dame Senior Alumni Newsletter, and had the pleasure of talking about my involvement in ND Women Connect with fellow ND alum Jeanine Sterling about the group and what we plan to achieve. Here’s an excerpt:
There are any number of volunteer opportunities out in the world. How and why did you get involved with NDWC – and then the Board – in the first place?
I live in Chicago, and we have a very large, active ND Club here. Although I’m married to an ND classmate, Mike Padden ‘78, we had not been involved in the local club. I noticed an interesting ND Women Connect event in the Chicago Club newsletter and went, then never turned back. It felt like home, and the women were just so smart, nice and generous that I became more and more involved.
ND Women Connect’s approach empowers the individual, and I felt the support and freedom to create programming in Chicago — and that led to joining the national board.
